On the back of the disappointment of finishing second in the league, E7 were looking to make an immediate impact for the start of the summer season. They were not to let down their dedicated fans who cheered in the torrential summer rain.

Two new players started the match with East London footballing veteran Nurul joining the ranks. Also new central defender Michael made his debut. Both players  produced solid displays and  helped E7 make a strong start to the season against FC Baresi.

It was a positive first 15 mins for E7 as constant attacking football led to many chances being created. A flowing move ended with Nasser being put clean through and making no mistake from 12 yards out. Baresi equalised almost immediately though as the adverse weather conditions were creating chaos at both ends of the field.

The E7 bravehearts hadn’t let their heads drop though as came back strong again and regained the lead with a timely strike from Josh. This wasn’t the end of the scoring though as quick free kick caught out the whole of E7 defence and the first half ended at 2-2.

Some attack minded changes meant once again E7 came out for the second half intent on forcing the issue and dominating outright. Some great footwork from substitute Sean and Massum created the opening down the left and Massum drove the ball into the bottom corner to retake the lead. Michael Satthee added another to seal the game although a scrappy late strike from Baresi meant a nervy few seconds at the end.

All in all a promising start and the hope of a strong season in everyone’s minds
